David Nelson Consulting has been in operation since September, 2008. Prior to this date, the principals have had significant public sector experience in community development, social services, grant administration, reporting, and general administration at the staff level. This experience provides a solid background from which to provide effective community development consulting services. A notable accomplishment of David Nelson Consulting is the number of dollars secured from grant writing. A total of 28 grants have netted $7,844,021 in successful grant applications while David Nelson has been employed in the public and private sectors. Over $3.7 million were secured as a private consultant, and over $4.1 million as an analyst for Nevada County.

- (ED) Program Representative to City and County jurisdictions (and their contracted consultants) eligible to the CDBG Program in Alpine, Colusa, El Dorado, Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Lassen, Mono, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Trinity, and Tulare Counties.

Irene Nelson:
- Administrative manager of the Otology Research Laboratory for seven years. Purchased lab supplies and equipment. Managed a faculty and resident research library.
- Assisted the Department Chair in the preparation and administration of multi-year, multi-million dollar federal research grants.
- Managed budgets and met the grant cycles and reporting deadlines for National Institutes of Health grants, and smaller grants from other funding sources.
- Wrote and distributed a monthly departmental newsletter for Northern California otolaryngologists and coordinated faculty publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Coordinated nationwide meetings for an otology research trust fund.
In addition, after her tenure at UCDSM, Irene owned and operated Irene Nelson Transcription for five years, providing quality medical transcription services for physicians in Northern California.
